Interview Copilot Guide
The Interview Copilot listens to the interviewer, recognises the question, and puts key points plus a full reference answer on your screen while the interviewer is still finishing their sentence. It works for any industry and any meeting platform.
Before You Start
Fill in My Resources once, and every interview after that inherits it:
- Résumé (PDF, up to 10 MB) — grounds every answer in your real experience.
- Job Position — title, company, and the full job description.
- Keywords — company, product and technical terms that speech recognition would otherwise get wrong. AceRound can generate a set from the job description.
- Knowledge Base (optional) — prepared answers, project write-ups, predicted questions. Select the sets you want when creating the session. See Question Predictions & Knowledge Base.
Choosing an Interview Method
On the setup screen you pick how the copilot hears the question.
Online Interview
For Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex and anything else that plays through your computer. The copilot recognises the interviewer's voice from your computer audio.
- Desktop client — captures system audio directly. Nothing to pick, no share prompt.
- Browser — you share the interview tab once at the start so the copilot can hear it. Browser-based meeting platforms (Meet, Zoom Web, Teams Web) are the smoothest here; if you use a desktop meeting app, enable Share system audio when you share.
Phone Interview
For recruiter screens and other calls. Put the phone on speaker next to your computer and AceRound picks the interviewer's voice out of the call.
- Available in the browser only.
- Requires a one-time voiceprint enrollment — about half a minute of your own voice, so the copilot can tell you apart from the interviewer.
- Currently supports English and Chinese interviews.
Interviews cannot be started from a phone. A phone can join an interview you started on a computer as a second screen — see Dual-Device Mode.
Setup Steps
- Open Interview Copilot from the sidebar.
- Pick your résumé and target role from what you saved in My Resources.
- Choose the interview method — Online Interview or Phone Interview.
- Open Advanced Settings and set the interview language and answer style (below).
- Set up audio — in the browser, share the interview tab; on the desktop client, nothing to do.
- Watch the audio waveform. Play any sound and confirm the waveform moves. If it is flat, the copilot is not hearing anything.
- Start.
Tick Free Trial (5 minutes) on the setup screen for a full dry run that costs nothing from your balance. One trial every 20 minutes.
Advanced Settings
- Interview Language — the language spoken in the interview. Speech recognition is locked to it before the session starts, so choose the language the interviewer will mainly use. See Multilingual Support.
- Auto Translation — optionally translates the interviewer's question into a second language of your choice, shown alongside the original.
- Dual Language Answer — returns the answer in both the interview language and your translation language.
- Answer Style — how much the AI writes:
- Key points only — bullets, nothing else. Fastest to read.
- Natural — key points plus a conversational full answer.
- Structured (STAR) — key points plus a point-by-point or STAR-structured answer. Best for behavioural rounds.
- Extra answer requirement (optional) — free text, e.g. "keep it under 60 seconds" or "always mention my fintech background".
- Enable Interview Review (recommended) — records the session so you get a report afterwards.
During the Interview
Answers arrive on their own. Each time the interviewer finishes a question, the copilot recognises it and streams key points first, then the full answer.
Screenshot solving. If the interviewer shares a coding problem or a diagram, capture it and the copilot solves it in a side panel — with follow-ups for Explain approach, Alternate solution and Optimize code. Turn on Auto follow-up and it keeps working through the problem with you. On the desktop client this is Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + S.
Ask by voice. Push the voice hotkey (Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + M on desktop) to ask the copilot something directly, without waiting for the interviewer.
Read, don't recite. Take the structure and the specifics, then say it in your own words. Reading verbatim is what makes people sound off, not the tool.
After the Interview
If Interview Review was on, AceRound generates a report: the questions you were asked, how you answered, and where you were weak. Reports live in your interview history and can be shared by link.
What It Costs You
- Real-time assistance is billed per minute of session time — one minute of balance per minute online. Closing the session or losing the connection stops the meter.
- Screenshot solving is billed separately from session time, per screenshot.
- Free Trial sessions cost nothing.
- On an active Pass, none of this consumes balance.
See the FAQ for how credits and passes are consumed.
Troubleshooting
- Flat waveform / no answers. The copilot is not receiving audio. In the browser, re-share the tab and make sure system audio is included. On desktop, confirm the system permission is granted and restart the app.
- Wrong words in the transcript. Add the company, product and technical terms to your keyword set in My Resources.
- Answers in the wrong language. The interview language is fixed when the session starts. End the session and start a new one with the right language.
- Browser choice. Use a current Chrome, Edge or Safari.
