Dual-Device Mode
Dual-device mode puts the interview on one device and the answers on another. Your computer runs the meeting; your phone or tablet shows what the copilot is saying. Nothing about the answer layer touches the machine you are sharing.
Why a Second Device
- Physical separation. The answers are on hardware the meeting software has no access to — not a hidden window, not a second monitor, a different machine.
- Survives anything screen-based. Screen sharing, window recording, remote-desktop proctoring: none of it can see a phone lying next to your keyboard.
- Real-time. Questions and answers appear on the second screen as they are generated.
- No install on the phone. The second screen is a web page you open by QR code or link.
If you are using the desktop client, its answer layer is already excluded from screen capture. Dual-device mode stacks on top of that for situations where you would rather not have anything on the interview machine at all.
Setting It Up
1. Start on your computer
Create the interview on your computer as usual, then click Dual-Device Interview. AceRound generates a QR code and a one-time link for the second screen.
Interviews can only be created and started from a computer. The phone joins as the second screen.
2. Connect the second device
- Scan the QR code with your phone — fastest.
- Or copy the link and open it on the second device — easier for tablets.
Once connected, the second device enters the waiting room and stands by.
3. Start the interview
With the second screen showing as ready, start the interview on your computer. Questions get recognised there; answers stream to the phone.
You can regenerate the link at any point if you need a fresh one.
Keeping It Natural
- Put the second device flat next to your keyboard or just below your monitor, in the same direction you would naturally glance while thinking.
- Turn the brightness down and use dark mode. A phone lighting up your face is what gets noticed, not the phone itself.
- Look at the camera when you answer. Reading while talking is visible; pausing to think and then talking is not.
- Do a full rehearsal — connect both devices and run a Free Trial (5 minutes) session — before it matters.
- Keep the second device on a stable connection: good Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Virtual Desktops (Optional)
If you are running everything on one computer instead, a second virtual desktop keeps the copilot off the desktop you share.

Keep the interview on desktop 1 and AceRound on desktop 2. Set up the copilot there, switch back, and share only the interview desktop.
The desktop client handles this case more reliably — its overlay is excluded from capture regardless of which desktop you are on — so treat virtual desktops as the browser-only fallback.
