KPIT, Tata Elxsi and LTTS Fresher Interview Process: Engineering R&D Hiring Tests by Year
KPIT, Tata Elxsi and L&T Technology Services campus rounds as candidates describe them: Superset, AON, HirePro and CoCubes tests, C/C++ coding limits, and where posts disagree.

For ECE, EEE and CS students looking at embedded, automotive and engineering-services employers rather than the usual TCS/Infosys batch. If a service-company test lands in the same week, multiple placement drives covers how to split your time.
TL;DR: I read ten candidate posts on KPIT, Tata Elxsi and L&T Technology Services (LTTS), dated 2021 to 2025. All three run an online test first, then a technical interview, then HR. The test platform changes by college and year (Superset, AON, HirePro, CoCubes), and the KPIT and Tata Elxsi coding rounds were limited to specific languages in the posts I read. I found no 2025-26 official description of any of these processes, so every number below belongs to a dated post, not a rule.
These are engineering R&D services companies. They hire a lot of ECE and EEE students alongside CS, which means the first test can be domain MCQs on microprocessors or VLSI instead of pure DSA. That makes the prep different from the IT-services pages I've covered, like Capgemini, Accenture and HCLTech or Hexaware, Mphasis and Zensar.

KPIT: the best-documented of the three
Four GeeksforGeeks candidate posts, from September 2023 to a post updated in July 2025. KPIT's careers site has a "For Graduates" section, but I did not find round details there.
What the posts agree on
- The flow is an online assessment, then a technical interview, then HR. One post adds a pre-placement talk first.
- In the 2025 post and most of the others, the interviews ran on Superset.
- HR is not a formality. One 2023 author says HR "is the zone where much elimination takes place". Questions reported include "Why KPIT?" and whether you'd relocate.
The July 2025 post (a first-time campus visit)
- About 300 students sat the test and about 90 were shortlisted for the technical round. About 60 were shortlisted for HR.
- The test covered aptitude, domain MCQs, puzzles that work like interactive games, and two coding questions. Only C++ or Java was allowed.
- The two coding questions were a missing-character problem on two strings and Longest Increasing Subsequence.
- The technical round ran about an hour: OOP, C versus C++, swapping without a third variable, Fibonacci, primes, Armstrong numbers and a work-and-time puzzle. HR ran about 30 minutes.
Where the older posts differ
- September 2023, ECE/EEE: the test was on AON, 30 MCQs in 30 minutes on embedded systems, microprocessors, VLSI, control systems and power electronics, plus a logic section. The technical round was about 50 minutes (BJT and MOSFET, relay circuits, PWM, and a palindrome check in the Superset terminal).
- November 2023: an AI-proctored test with aptitude, puzzles and two coding questions in C or C++ only. The platform isn't named. The technical round ran 49 minutes and was mostly about one Arduino project.
- August 2023 drive, post from January 2024: a two-part assessment. Part A was aptitude plus two coding questions in C or C++. Part B was memory and speed games. The technical round covered OOP, inheritance, palindrome by recursion and JDK/JRE/JVM.
So the platform (Superset, AON or unnamed) and the allowed languages (C/C++ or C++/Java) are not fixed. The only dependable move is to read the test email from your placement cell.
Tata Elxsi: a long aptitude block, then a narrow funnel
Two distinct candidate posts (a third GfG page is a near-verbatim copy of the first, so I don't count it).
The 2022 drive (post from October 2023)
- 90-minute test on HirePro with a 6 CGPA cut-off: 25 aptitude MCQs in 30 minutes, 15 English MCQs in 15 minutes, 20 logical reasoning MCQs in 20 minutes, then two coding questions in 30 minutes.
- Only 7 of 35 students reached the technical round and about 6 got offers.
- The technical interview was also on HirePro with a preloaded editor. Topics: OS and LRU, DDL, joins and self join, reversing a singly linked list with its complexity, and inheritance. HR was relaxed: job preference, higher studies, shifts, location.
The September 2023 post
- First round: aptitude, technical MCQs (SQL, OS, networks, cloud) and three coding questions, where solving two moved you on.
- Technical: SQL joins, basic queries, coding in a language of your choice, and your projects. HR ran about 20 minutes.
The two disagree on the platform (one names HirePro, the other doesn't) and on the structure of the first round. One says three rounds and the copy says four; I'd treat the count as drive-specific. I found no official eligibility page, and the Tata Elxsi careers site had nothing relevant to freshers.
LTTS: three posts across four years
- 2021 (two posts): a 90-minute test, one on CoCubes covering quant, logical, English, pseudocode and data structures. The other added 10 minutes of essay writing. Technical and HR were on Teams, about 40 and 35 minutes. Topics included projects, function overloading, joins, OOP, binary-to-decimal conversion explained line by line, and Python lists versus tuples. One author lost a point for answering "no" when asked about C++.
- October 2024: 90 questions (30 logical, 30 quantitative, 30 domain) plus two coding questions. 57 students were selected for the interview. The technical interview was offline. HR asked where you see yourself in five years and about location preference.
LTTS's careers page carries a fraud warning that scammers pose as its employees. A real invite comes through your placement cell, not a WhatsApp "registration fee".
What to do with this
- Match prep to your branch. On the KPIT ECE/EEE post the first screen was domain MCQs in 30 minutes. CS posts lead with coding. Don't spend a week on LeetCode hards if your test is circuits.
- Practise in the allowed languages. Several KPIT posts allowed only C/C++, one only C++/Java. If you're a Python person, find out before test day.
- Know one project cold. The KPIT November 2023 technical round was mostly one Arduino project, and LTTS and Tata Elxsi posts also lead with projects.
- Prepare the HR round. Relocation, shifts, location preference and "why this company" appear across all three.
- Expect proctoring. Superset, AON, HirePro and CoCubes tests can be AI-proctored. Read the rules in your invite. Where a tool is allowed for online assessments, OA Copilot supports HackerRank and CodeSignal style tests; for live technical and HR interviews on video, AceRound's Interview Copilot gives you structured talking points while you answer. Whether either is permitted is set by your drive's rules, not by us. For platform context see CoCubes and AMCAT and eLitmus.
FAQ
