Flipkart, Amazon India, Jio and Airtel Fresher Interview Process: Tests, DSA Rounds and What Sources Disagree On

For students whose placement cell lists Flipkart, Amazon, Jio or Airtel. If these land on the same week as an IT-services batch, multiple placement drives covers how to split your time.

TL;DR: I read GeeksforGeeks candidate posts for all four. Flipkart and Amazon are DSA-first, with almost no theory subjects. Amazon adds a long behavioural section. Jio and Airtel are closer to a service-company shape: a short test, then one technical interview on OOPS, SQL and basic DSA. Every source is self-reported and several carry a later "updated" date than the drive. I found no fresher CTC figure for Amazon, and the Flipkart numbers I found are not split by experience. LeetCode Discuss and Code360 pages would not open for me, so I leave those out.

Flipkart: DSA all the way

On-campus 2020 post

Four rounds.

• Round 1, online test: 3 DSA problems in 90 minutes: an implementation problem, a priority queue plus DP problem, and a graph backtracking problem.
• Round 2, technical (45 to 50 minutes): 3 DSA problems. Find the row with the most 1s in a sorted binary matrix, clone a stack in O(1) extra space, and Word Ladder.
• Round 3, technical (30 to 35 minutes): 2 DSA problems. Rotten Oranges and the next greater number with the same digits.
• Round 4, manager (25 to 30 minutes): the internship work, plus a design puzzle about an Android game.

The author's advice is to focus on DSA and corner cases.

Off-campus 2023 post

This author is leaving a previous company, so it is a lateral story and only a loose guide for freshers. It is still useful for the question level. The first problem-solving round (1 hour) had Trapping Rain Water and Partition Equal Subset Sum. The second had two interviewers and asked Group Anagrams and Capacity To Ship Packages, probing approaches and varying the questions. The hiring-manager round covered projects and "why Flipkart".

What I could not verify

Search snippets of a LeetCode on-campus thread (2024) mention two DSA questions in a Google Doc within an hour, including Minimum Window Substring and Daily Temperatures. I could not open that page, so treat it as a lead, not a source.

On pay, Levels.fyi lists Flipkart SDE-1 at roughly ₹22 to 24 LPA total (January 2025 snapshot). AmbitionBox shows a wider range but groups 1 to 4 years of experience. Neither is a fresher offer letter. If you quote a number, call it "reported".

Amazon India: two easy questions and a lot of behaviour

Intern, on-campus 2024

• HackerRank: a 70-minute coding section with 2 medium problems (greedy and strings) and a 20-minute work-style assessment of about 50 slider questions based on the Leadership Principles. The author calls the assessment important and says people who take it lightly get rejected.
• Interview (1 hour, on Chime): 2 interviewers, 2 DSA problems (stacks and trees), with constant communication expected.

SDE-1 on-campus (page updated July 2025)

The online assessment had 2 easy DSA questions in 70 minutes and 70 to 80 behavioural questions over about 3 hours. 105 candidates advanced to 3 technical interviews, described as non-elimination. Examples: group anagrams, largest subtree sum, max sum with no two adjacent elements, and distributing candies in a binary tree.

A warning about timelines

A lateral SDE-1 post, not a fresher story, reports a 40 to 45 day wait for the interview. The author says the recruiter had missed the name and only moved once chased. One report, so I would not generalise, but follow up politely after two weeks of silence.

Jio Platforms and Airtel: a service-company shape

Jio Platforms, IIT Guwahati on-campus 2023

• Eligibility: CSE, ECE and EEE, CPI of at least 6.5.
• Test (30 minutes, HackerRank): 18 MCQs on OOPS, OS and DBMS, plus 2 easy-to-medium coding questions.
• Interview (45 minutes): a project discussion, a binary search question and bottom view of a binary tree. The author reports no HR round and was selected for the GET role.

Airtel

• Airtel Digital, on-campus 2023: the online assessment had 2 medium-to-hard coding questions. Selection narrowed to 38 for Digital and 20 for Network. The technical interview covered SQL queries, OOPS, a palindrome check and longest substring without repeating characters.
• Airtel SDE (older post): AMCAT with 16 aptitude, 14 technical and 2 coding questions. The author notes AMCAT's C++ is old and lacks unordered_map. The interview covered OS, DBMS, OOPS and the CAP theorem. If your drive uses it, see AMCAT and eLitmus.

Where these sources disagree

• How hard the test is. Amazon's two questions are described as easy; Airtel's two as medium to hard. Flipkart's three in 90 minutes is the most demanding on paper. The scores needed to advance are not stated in any post.
• Whether Amazon's interviews eliminate. The SDE-1 post says the three technical rounds were non-elimination; I have no second source.
• Dates. The Amazon SDE-1 page shows a July 2025 update, the Flipkart campus post describes 2020, and the Jio and Airtel posts are from 2023. Processes change between years.
• Missing. I found no official page describing any of the four campus processes. The official careers sites (Flipkart, Amazon) are the place to check eligibility.

What to do with this

1. For Flipkart, practise graph, DP and heap problems under a clock. The 2020 test was 3 problems in 90 minutes, and the interview questions were Word Ladder and Rotten Oranges level.
2. For Amazon, do not skip the behavioural half. The work-style assessment and the 70 to 80 questions are a large part of the process in the posts above. Read the Leadership Principles and answer in character.
3. For Jio and Airtel, revise OOPS, DBMS and SQL as well as DSA. Both interviews asked SQL or OOPS next to a standard string or tree question.
4. Talk while you code. Amazon's intern post stresses constant communication, and the Flipkart 2023 post says interviewers varied the questions to probe approach.
5. Read your drive's rules before using any tool. These tests are usually proctored.
