Virtusa, GlobalLogic and Mastek Fresher Interview Process in India: Coder Tests, GDs and Funnel Numbers
Virtusa, GlobalLogic and Mastek campus drives as candidates describe them: test formats, cut-offs, group discussions, technical questions, and where the sources disagree.

For students whose placement cell lists Virtusa, GlobalLogic or Mastek next. If these dates collide with a bigger IT-services batch, multiple placement drives covers how to split your time.
TL;DR: I read eight GeeksforGeeks pages (2022 to 2025 updates) and one 2026 PrepInsta guide. Virtusa is the one with a large coding-heavy test and a published pattern. GlobalLogic's campus post had a GD and four stages after the test. Mastek leans on a GD, a Java-flavoured aptitude test and two technical rounds. Nearly all first-hand evidence is on one site, GeeksforGeeks, and several posts show a "last updated" date later than the drive. I found no official page for any of the three processes.
These three sit between the big IT-services batches (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Accenture, HCLTech) and the mid-tier names in Hexaware, Mphasis and Zensar. The test is the bigger filter at Virtusa, the group discussion at Mastek, and both at GlobalLogic.

Virtusa: Coder and Power Coder
What the 2022 campus post says
The author describes a July 2022 drive with two roles, Regular Coder and Power Coder.
- Aptitude round: aptitude, reasoning, verbal, communication, programming logic and coding in one round. Regular Coders got 4 coding questions and Power Coders 3 additional ones.
- 150 students cleared it and 42 cleared the technical round. Technical and HR ran on the same day.
- Technical (25 to 30 minutes): encapsulation and access specifiers, merge sort versus quick sort, a recursion exercise (salary increment by grade A, B or C), inner join versus right outer join, primary versus unique key, and some CSS.
- HR: relocation, a two-year bond, and whether you are willing to work in Python or Java.
The Power Coder post
This one is titled 2023 and shows an update date of July 2025, so treat the year loosely.
- Online assessment: one coding question (50% cut-off), Verbal 16 questions, Quants 13 and Reasoning 12 (60% each), plus a written English test where the author says under 5 mistakes and 70% were needed. No negative marking.
- Technical interview (50 to 70 minutes): mostly C++. Virtual functions, friend class, copy constructor, void pointers, and checking even or odd without the
%operator. - Personal interview: the two-year bond and relocation again.
The hackathon route
A third post, updated May 2024, describes a different path. The first test had 6 coding questions, with at least 5 at 100% of test cases and one at 75%, and the author says it cut about 125,000 candidates down. A second test of 5 questions each needing 100% left about 26,000. The top 100 went to a 36-hour hackathon in Hyderabad building a project from an SRS document, then HR. Topics were arrays, recursion, trees and graphs.
The 2026 guide
PrepInsta (April 2026) is a prep guide, not a candidate report. It lists Coder at about ₹5 LPA and Power Coder at about ₹6.5 LPA for the 2026 batch, B.E. or B.Tech with no active backlogs. Its test pattern: aptitude 10 questions in 10 minutes, CS fundamentals 30 in 30, pseudo code 10 in 10, then 4 coding questions in 50 minutes for Coder or 3 in 80 minutes for Power Coder. It says the platform may be HackerRank, HirePro or Virtusa's own, and that the Power Coder challenge is invite-only.
GlobalLogic: test, GD, two technical rounds
The campus post (updated September 2024)
- Online round: 40 MCQs plus 3 coding questions in 2 hours, no negative marking, sectional cut-offs. MCQs covered aptitude, logic, C output and OOP.
- Coding questions: array rotation, the Nth number divisible by a or b (input
2 3 10, output15), and a duplicate-string YES or NO check. - Funnel: 21 to the group discussion, 12 to Tech-1, 7 to Tech-2, 6 to HR, 4 selected.
- GD topic: flexible versus fixed timings.
- Tech-1: write full code to reverse words in a string, sort an array of 3, 4 and 5, and the 9-balls puzzle. Tech-2: projects, Agile, and where to use a linked list, an array and a queue.
The trainee post and the summary page
A Software Engineer Trainee post (shown as updated July 2025) describes an online exam of aptitude, logic, C and OOP, where 4 coding questions were given and 3 had to be submitted. Then came an online technical round (Java OOP, swap without a third variable, palindrome), a managerial round that was mostly resume questions, and HR. All four stages were online, with no GD mentioned.
GeeksforGeeks' recruitment summary lists the same four stages (assessment, technical, managerial, HR) with above 60% in Class X, XII and graduation, no backlogs, and a gap of up to one year allowed.
Mastek: GD first
Two posts, both short on detail.
- Ahmedabad post (August 2023): four rounds: GD, aptitude, L1 and L2, for Application Development and DBMS roles. L1 covered loops, functions and OOP; L2 covered linked lists, sorting, searching, stacks, queues and arrays. No counts or durations.
- Mumbai University post (January 2024): five rounds: online GD, online aptitude, offline GD, L1, L2. About 1,600 students sat the first GD in groups of 11 and about 400 went through. The aptitude test had 30 questions (15 quant and logic, 15 Java), and about 300 went through. The offline GD (topic: effects of COVID-19) left 70 to 80, L1 left 30 and L2 left 15. L1 had two C++ pointer output questions and a discussion of internships and projects; L2 had two puzzles and one coding question.
The COVID topic hints the Mumbai drive may be older than its update date, but I could not confirm that.
Where these sources disagree
- Virtusa test shape. The 2022 post describes one aptitude round with coding; PrepInsta lists five sections; the Power Coder post gives percentile cut-offs by section, which PrepInsta does not. No first-hand post names the platform.
- GlobalLogic GD. Present in the 2024 campus post, absent in the trainee post and the summary page.
- Mastek. One post has one GD, the other has two. Different colleges, so both can be true.
- Dates. Several GeeksforGeeks pages show an update date later than the drive, or a title year that doesn't match. I did not open Glassdoor, AmbitionBox or Code360 reports, which would add more recent first-hand detail.
What to do with this
- Count on coding for Virtusa and GlobalLogic. Four problems for a Coder, three more for a Power Coder, and 3 problems at GlobalLogic. Array rotation, string checks and recursion are the level in these posts. Practise finishing, not just starting.
- Know your section cut-offs. The Virtusa and GlobalLogic tests have sectional thresholds, so a strong coding score doesn't rescue a 40% in verbal.
- Revise C++ or Java OOP properly. Virtual functions, copy constructors, access specifiers and pointer output questions show up in both Virtusa and Mastek.
- Prepare for a GD. GlobalLogic and Mastek used one in the posts above. Practise a clear opening line and a one-sentence summary for the end.
- Settle the bond and relocation question early. Virtusa HR asked about a two-year bond and relocation in both candidate posts.
- Check what your drive allows. These tests are usually proctored; read the rules in your invite. Where a tool is permitted for online assessments, OA Copilot supports HackerRank and CodeSignal style tests, and for live technical and HR rounds on video, AceRound's Interview Copilot gives you structured talking points as you answer. Whether either is allowed is up to your drive's rules, not us. For platform context see CoCubes and Oracle and PayPal.
