JPMorgan SEP Online Assessment: What's Official, What's Reported
JPMorgan doesn't publish the new-grad SEP assessment's length, question count or AI rule. Here's what its own pages say and what candidates report.

TL;DR: For the new-grad Software Engineer Program (SEP), JPMorgan publishes no assessment platform, duration, question count, proctoring rule or AI rule. Candidates report HackerRank. The "CodeScreen plus three-interview Super Day" process you'll see in many guides is on JPMorgan's page for experienced software engineers, not new grads.
Source note: "official" below means text on jpmorganchase.com pages (SEP, How we hire FAQ, experienced-hire page), checked 2026-11-01. Everything else is candidate-reported and labeled.
Most JPMorgan guides blend three different tracks (US new grad, experienced hire, India) into one timeline. That's why two people can describe "the JPMorgan OA" and mean different tests. This one is US new-grad only, and it tells you where the official record stops.
What JPMorgan Says Officially

The SEP page doesn't mention HackerRank, CodeScreen or a Superday. It says nothing about assessment length or rules. Its AI language is about the job: "Experience developing with AI tools, including the ability to validate and refine AI-generated outputs with sound judgment, will set you apart." That's a hiring signal, not a test policy.
The How we hire FAQ is generic. It says some roles require "a technical assessment, which is a standardized test", that these may be online tests or live technical interviews, that you'll be told if your role requires one, and that "many assessments may not be retaken for a designated timeframe." It recommends a distraction-free environment. So: take it once, and take it when you're ready.
The experienced-hire page is the only one listing steps: "CodeScreen – Complete online coding assessment" then "Super Day – Attend three virtual interviews in one day." It's for experienced engineers. Don't copy it onto a new-grad timeline.
I found no official statement on proctoring, camera or screen monitoring, or whether AI tools are permitted during an assessment.
What Candidates Report (Unconfirmed)
- HackerRank for 2027 SEP recruiting, per reports from North America and India collected on PracHub. That page itself says there's no universal question count, duration, cutoff or response time. Some candidates describe the HackerRank as a step toward Code for Good, JPMorgan's team-based event.
- Format. TechPrep reports usually two easy-to-medium problems, sometimes an added aptitude section.
- Video interview. Entry-level candidates often get an on-demand video round, reported as about 30 seconds of prep and 2 to 3 minutes per answer.
- Superday. Reported as two or three back-to-back virtual interviews, often two for entry level, with a code-review exercise (around 120 to 150 lines, often Java or Spring Boot), a live HackerRank round, and system design and behavioral (STAR) questions.
- Requisitions. Some applicants say a specific full-time requisition was later closed. Details are unverified, so don't plan around it either way.
Search snippets also quote 60 to 90 minute assessments. I couldn't tie that to a source, so I'm not repeating it as fact.
How to Prepare Without Guessing
- Read your invitation email first. It's the only document that tells you the platform, time limit and rules for your test.
- Practice on the platform you're likely to get. HackerRank's own sample assessment covers the editor, test runner and language picker. Do it once before the real thing.
- Cover easy-to-medium problems under time, since that's the reported range, but don't treat the difficulty as a promise.
- Prepare for reading code, not just writing it. The reported Superday code-review round rewards spotting bugs in 100-plus lines of Java-style code.
- Don't assume AI is fair game. Nothing official permits it for the assessment. For what the platform can observe, see how HackerRank detects cheating and whether you can Google during a HackerRank test.
- Have STAR stories ready for the behavioral rounds. Our STAR walkthrough is a good start.

Practicing the live rounds: Interview Copilot is built for live interviews, and a mock interview lets you rehearse explaining code aloud. OA Copilot covers online assessments on HackerRank, CodeSignal and Codility. Read your assessment's rules before deciding how to use any tool.
FAQ
What platform does the JPMorgan Software Engineer Program assessment use?
JPMorgan's student page doesn't say. Candidates report HackerRank for 2027 recruiting. The experienced-hire page names CodeScreen, a different track.
How long is the JPMorgan online assessment?
Not published. Reports vary, so rely on your invitation.
Is AI allowed on the JPMorgan online assessment?
No official rule found. The SEP page's AI line describes the job, not the test. Check your invitation or ask your recruiter.
What is the JPMorgan Superday for software engineers?
Officially, three virtual interviews in one day on the experienced-hire page. For new grads, one prep site reports two or three. Treat that as reported.
